MDS Becomes AML - Stablilized

Today Mitch's condition is more stable with heart rate down a bit and platelets and white cells up.  He is still totally sedated with a tube into his lungs for air and one to his stomach for food.  Laina and I were so pleased to see him looking better this morning.  But it is very hard to see him in this condition and totally out of it.  So by this evening we are anxious to get him off the tubes and back to us.  Hopefully that will be in the next couple of days and his breathing and health  will steadily improve.  And he'll start complaining mightily about all the poking and prodding he's gotten.

  1. Dear Penny,
Thanks for your updates. In your precision and clarity you remind me of Mitch and his detailed updates of his condition. I'm a new friend (and fan of graysatplay) and have learned much about leukemia and the multitude of tests and protocols for its treatment through reading Mitch's updates. All good wishes to you and Mitch for his speedy return to good health. I want to read more of his good humor as he continues to educate us. I'm holding good thoughts for getting him off the tubes and back to those who care so much for this extraordinary man.
    Best,
    Ali

  2. Good morning. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have been following your blog about 10 months or so as that is about the time my husband was diagnosed with MDS. His has also gone into AML, we are doing the vidaza treatments with the 8th day of mylotarg. I am confused by the counts, up, down , up agin ...so it goes...We are waiting for a bone marrow donor, his brother and 2 children were not matches. Try and be positive, I know it is hard, my prayers are with you. Gay Lyn
